Question:

When we create application users using the safex command and a short input file such as this:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='no'?>
<Safex>
<Attach label="Service Catalog"/>
<AddOrModify>
<User folder="/" name='TestUser'>
<GroupMembership>
</GroupMembership>
</User>
</AddOrModify>
</Safex>

the user is created, but it is put into a group with a strange name, such as "/t" "/t/n" etc.

Answer:

This is expected behavior. In the XML file, any non-printable character is stored and processed. If the <GroupMembership> and </GroupMembership> tabs are separated by any characters, the group name will be set to those characters, even if the characters are non-printable. If you enter a single carriage return between these tags, a group called "/n" will be created, a tab and then a carriage return will result in a group called "/t/n" etc.
