Introduction:

This document will explain how to:

  • Create an offline license request for Agile Requirements Designer through CodeMeter Control Center.
  • Fill out a Customer Care Request form so that our CA licensing team can create a license key for you.
  • Apply your offline license through CodeMeter Control Center. 
Background:

Our offline license activation method for Agile Designer is accomplished using CodeMeter Control Center. If you are experiencing any error messages or issues when trying to use the License Activation Wizard (ActivationWizard.exe) or the online activation method through CodeMeter License Central WebDepot (Web Admin), in most cases it can be resolved by using the CodeMeter Control Center module (CodeMeterCC.exe) installed with Agile Designer. 

Environment:
CA Agile Requirements Designer (ARD), formerly Test Case Optimizer (TCO). Release versions 1.9.3 and above.
Instructions:

 Create an offline license request through CodeMeter:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin

  2. Locate 'CodeMeterCC.exe', right-click, and choose 'Run as administrator'.

  3. In the CodeMeter Control Center window, under the 'License' tab, select the CM license container 'AgileDesigner'.
  4. Click either the 'License Update' or 'Activate License' button.
    • If you are activating this type of license for the first time, you will see the 'Activate License' option.
    • If you have already applied an Agile Designer license before through here or the ActivationWizard.exe, you will see the 'Update License' button.

  5. The 'CMFAS Assistant' window will now show with the Welcome page. Click the 'Next' button.

  6. By default the 'Create license request' radio button is selected. Leave this option selected and click the 'Next' button.

  7. By default the file path location of this license request file will be saved to C:\Program Files\Grid-Tools\AgileDesigner\activation. If you wish to change the save location, click on the '...' button to choose another location.

  8. By default the request file's name is something similar to 32767-2825990913.WibuCmRaC. If you wish to change the name of the file, you can do so by editing the file name in the file path box in the wizard.
    • Please make sure you leave the file extension as 'WibuCmRaC' if you edit the file name.

  9. Click the 'Commit' button.

  10. You should receive a message saying 'The license request file has been successfully created'. Click the 'Finish' button.

  11. Go to the location of where you saved the license request file to and verify that it is there.

  12. Now you will need to fill out a CA License Request Form.
    • CA Support does not have the ability to create licenses, so you will need to fill out this form in order to receive a license.

Create a license request case:

  1. Go to and login to CA Support Online: https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/newhome 
  2. In the top, left-hand corner of the screen, click the 'Menu' bar, which is an icon with three horizontal lines.

  3. Click on the 'Licensing' option.

  4. On the CA Licensing page, scroll to the very bottom and click on the 'Customer Care Request Form' link. 
    • Here you will be taken to the 'Customer Care Request Form': https://catech.force.com/customer/CustomerCareForm

  5. Fill out the following 'Account Information':
    • Please indicate your relationship with CA: (CA Customer, CA Employee, Other)
    • CA SiteID: If you do not know this, please call 1-800-225-5224 or contact CA Support at http://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-support/contact-support.html 
    • Request Type: CA Licensing
    • First Name:
    • Last Name:
    • Company Name:
    • Company Address:
    • Country:
    • City:
    • State/Province:
    • Postal/Zip Code:
    • Telephone Number:
    • Corporate Email Address:

  6. Fill out the following 'Details' information:
    • Type of License: General Licensing for All Other Products
    • Your Question: Require Offline license for CA Agile Requirements Designer. (If you need a trial version or a VM specific license, you can add this information here)
    • Product Name: CA Agile Requirements Designer (Agile Designer)
    • Release: 2.5 (or whichever version you are currently using)
    • Type of Licensing: All Other Keys
    • Do you have any files to attach to this case?: Yes.
    • Please check and follow the instructions below: Check box for 'I'm not a robot'.

  7. Click the 'Submit' button.

  8. You will get a message saying "Thank you for your submission. You will receive an email with case number 'xxxxxxxx'. The CA Customer Care team will be in touch shortly." Take note of this case number.

  9. Click the 'Choose File' button and then the 'Attach' button to upload your WibuCmRaC license request file to your license request form.

  10. Click the 'Close' button once done. A member of our customer care (licensing) team will create the offline license key you require and email you within 24 hours. 

  11. Once you have the offline license key, follow the next set of instructions.

Apply the offline license through CodeMeter:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin

  2. Locate 'CodeMeterCC.exe', right-click, and choose 'Run as administrator'.

  3. In the CodeMeter Control Center window, under the 'License' tab, select the CM license container 'AgileDesigner'.

  4. Click either the 'License Update' or 'Activate License' button.
    • If you are activating this type of license for the first time, you will see the 'Activate License' option.
    • If you have already applied an Agile Designer license before through here or the ActivationWizard.exe, you will see the 'Update License' button.

  5. The 'CMFAS Assistant' window will now show with the Welcome page. Click the 'Next' button.

  6. Choose the 'Import license update' radio button.

  7. Click the 'Next' button.

  8. Click on the '...' button to find and select the licensing activation file given to you by the licensing team (ending in WibuCmRaC).

  9. Click the 'Commit' button.

  10. You should receive a message saying the license has been applied successfully. Click the 'Finish' button. 
  11. To verify this, launch Agile Designer. If you are able to open and use Agile Designer, your license key has been applied successfully.
