Introduction:

After installing ITAM and trying to access the application, the following error is thrown:

"HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error. The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

Background:

IIS was installed after installing .NET Framework 4

The following error is returned when trying to access ITAM:

"HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error. The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

Environment:
Windows 2008 IIS 7 .net 4.3 Windows 2012 IIS 7.5 .net 4.3 Windows 2016 IIS 8 .net 4.3 or .net 4.5
Instructions:

You must register the relevant ASP.NET 4.x with IIS if IIS was installed after installing .NET Framework. The method for doing this depends on your version of Windows/IIS.

For Windows 2008:

On the web server 

1. Open a command prompt

2. Change directory to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 (or the appropriate path)

3. Type aspnet_regiis.exe -i

4. Run IISRESET command
